After breakfast, leave for Kandy visiting the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage en-route. This orphanage for baby elephants was established to feed, nurse & house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers.
Dinner and overnight will be at the Hantane Bungalow or similar. |

Breakfast will be at the Hantane Bungalow. Proceed to Kandy for sightseeing. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, which fell to the British in 1815. This hill capital is situated in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, surrounded by mountains & virtually encircled by the scenic Mahaweli river; the longest in Sri Lanka.

Leave of Sigiriya after breakfast. Sigiriya was an interregnum of great excitement. Built by King Kasyapa who killed his father to gain his wealth, this literal fortress in the sky, is a masterpiece of construction, irrigation & artistry. The 5th century water gardens are a glorious sight to behold.
Returns visiting the Dambulla cave temple en-route. This rock temple is a living place of worship for nearly two thousand years, and its caves are decorated with paintings and sculptures in every style of |
Sinhalese art from the fifth to the eighteenth century. Within the temple is the largest collection of Buddha statues in one place.
Dinner and overnight will be at the Hantana Bungalow. |

The Knuckles Range consists of the Knuckles massif, the Knuckles range and the Knuckles peaks. The 35 peaks rising to more than 3000 feet (915 m) offer some breathtaking views.
Start early on the 5th day and proceed to Gerandi Ella. Visit the Corbett’s Gap on the 6th day.
Overnight stay at the Eagle’s Crest or Corbett’s View. |
Leave for Randenigala after breakfast on the 7th day. You will pass the precipitous 17 hairpin bends, and the beautifully terraced paddy fields of Minipe.
Dinner and overnight will be at a lodge in Randenigala. |

You will get the opportunity to visit Sri Lanka's indigenous inhabitants, the Veddas or Wanniyela Aettho ('forest-dwellers') as they call themselves; who preserve a direct line of descent from the island's original Neolithic community dating from at least 14,000 BC and probably far earlier.
You will also visit Sorabora wewa, an ancient irrigation tank. Believed to have been built by King Dutugemunu’s betel supplier. The sluice, which is an ingenious engineering feat, has been built on a natural |
rock, using the skill and knowledge on ancient times. This is the only such sluice to be seen in Sri Lanka. This sluice constructed around 162 BCE is still in use.
If time permits, visit the picturesque Ulhitiya Reservoir. You might be able to see the wild elephants on the opposite bank of the reservoir, feeding on the vegetation.
Return to Randenigala for dinner and overnight. |

Leave for Nuwara Eliya after breakfast. You will drive through Scenic remote countryside passing beautiful paddy fields, lakes, reservoirs and mountain passes. With your ascent to the hill resort of Nuwara Eliya, you will notice the gradual change in the vegetation, landscape and atmosphere.
You will spend overnight at the Tree of Life Bungalow. |

Today will be at leisure. You could take a pleasant stroll to the town or toward the lake. Located in the center of the hill country also called the “Hill station”, Nuwara Eliya is a ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation with a soft cool climate.
Overnight will be at the Tree of Life Bungalow. |

After breakfast at Nuwara Eliya, you will proceed towards the dry zone for an afternoon 4WD safari of the Uda Walawe National Park. A mixture of abandoned teak plantation, scrub jungle & grassland, Uda Walawe promises plenty for those interested in seeing elephants in the wild. Herds of elephant can be seen along the river during the dry season, which is usually between May & September.
Proceed to Rekawa, where you will spend the night at Darwins or similar. |

Darwins is a nice place, where the atmosphere is calm, laidback and quiet. You will feel the urge to simply lay back and relax under a palm tree facing the balmy breeze of the Indian Ocean or take a lazy canoe ride on the nearby lagoon.

Leave for Bentota this morning. Visit the Galle Fort en-route. The Dutch Fort contains spacious houses & the first Protestant church in Sri Lanka and is an interesting place to wander about. Galle is also famous for its traditional lace making.
Dinner and overnight will be at the Mohotti Waluwwa or similar. |
